Jim Hammerschmidt provides commentary for Law360 article, “3 Tips For A Smoother Road To Payday,” by Kaitlin Ugolik (April 16, 2014). The article addresses billing headaches for attorneys and communication issues with clients.
“'Make sure billing entries are descriptive, results-oriented and typo-free,’ said James R. Hammerschmidt, co-managing partner of Paley Rothman and co-chair of the firm’s employment law practice. Hammerschmidt also noted the importance of sending invoices in a timely manner, each month and not in a lump at the end of a job or several months into it. ‘Clients want to know where they stand each month and do not want to be surprised by a big bill that has accumulated over months,’ he said. ‘Controlling expectations and keeping the client informed is a great way to ensure that bills get paid.'”
