Alternative Dispute Resolution

This practice group offers clients a variety of cost-efficient alternatives to the traditional litigation process. Our attorneys are highly skilled at resolving personal and business disputes, often before formal litigation has begun.

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a private, informal process, one whose fundamental purpose is to help parties achieve a mutually satisfactory resolution of a dispute without going to trial. In keeping with that objective, our attorneys provide clients with settlement assistance prior to initiating litigation. After litigation has begun, we often can employ our considerable experience and resolution skills to bring the case to a faster conclusion.

The members of this practice group have extensive experience in a variety of ADR techniques such as mediation, arbitration, mini-trials and neutral case evaluation, among others. The group is headed by an attorney who serves as both a court-appointed mediator and a member of the American Arbitration Association's Commercial Panel of Neutrals. Each of our ADR attorneys has received specialized training in mediation, arbitration or ADR advocacy and counseling, and all serve as court-appointed mediators, ADR neutrals or counselors. The group's collective ADR capabilities, combined with its members' extensive litigation experience, enables our attorneys to recognize both the strengths and shortcomings of cases as they move through the often confusing processes of litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

The ADR practice group regularly draws upon attorneys from the firm's other practice areas to ensure that clients receive the full benefit of our many years of experience in solving complex personal and business legal problems. It is part of Paley Rothman's commitment to provide a full range of practical, cost-effective approaches to the legal challenges faced by our clients.
