It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved partner and friend, Arthur H. Blitz.

Arthur was an integral part of the Paley Rothman family for more than 30 years. A member of the firm’s Real Estate, Financial Services, Litigation and Corporate practice groups, Arthur practiced law for over 50 years. He was extremely active in the community, as Past President and member of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce and the Potomac-Bethesda Rotary Club, and on the Board of Governors for Woodmont Country Club.

In addition to the time and attention he devoted as the father of a special needs child, Arthur had for many years been actively involved in community projects and charitable work. He did pro bono work for disabled local residents, and had volunteered as president of the Parents Staff Association of the Stephen Knolls School, which serves special needs children in Wheaton, Maryland.

A native of Atlantic City, N.J., Arthur first displayed his leadership qualities as a youngster by joining the Boy Scouts of America and earning the honor of Eagle Scout. He later traded in his bow & arrow for four years on active duty in the U.S. Army as a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, during which time he was a professorial lecturer with the University of Maryland Overseas Educational Program (Korea).

When he was not practicing law or busy with charitable or community work, Arthur maintained a strong interest in both golf and trains. While his accomplishments on the links may not be legendary, his backyard garden railroad is a thing of beauty, and was featured in both Legal Times and Bethesda Magazine in recent years.

Arthur’s smile, sense of humor, and infectious laugh brought happiness to the Paley Rothman family, and many in Montgomery County. He had a positive impact on everyone he met, including colleagues, clients and community members. He will be missed by his loving family, his wife Mimi, daughters Leslie and Robin, son-in-law Steve and the apple of his eye, grandson Samuel. We will miss Arthur deeply.
