Carlos Lastra Provides Commentary in U.S. News & World Report Article on Divorce and Investments

Carlos Lastra, Principal

Carlos Lastra provides commentary in U.S. News & World Report: Money article, “How to Handle Investments When You Divorce,” by Lou Carlozo (November 16, 2015).

The article addresses nine tips to guide you through a breakup and help ensure that assets are fairly divided.

“'Ignorance is fatal,’ says Carlos Lastra, a principal with Paley Rothman in Bethesda, Maryland, and a member of the firm’s family law and litigation practice. Financial information now exists ‘in digital form on computers, smartphones, and other digital devices – even smart watches. Further, these devices are protected by a myriad of federal and state laws, including the Stored Communication Act, the Electronic Communications Privacy Act and other anti-hacking laws, which could get an otherwise innocent house spouse in trouble.’”
