Highly Recognized Trial Attorney Carlos Lastra Joins Paley Rothman’s Family Law Practice

BETHESDA, MD — Paley Rothman, a full service law firm serving corporate and individual clients throughout the Washington metropolitan area, announced that Carlos Lastra, a highly recognized trial attorney with over 20 years of experience representing clients in domestic disputes, has joined the firm as Principal, effective July 1, 2014.
Named as a top “Divorce Attorney” by Washingtonian and Bethesda Magazine, Lastra will provide additional depth to the firm’s Family Law practice in divorce, alimony, custody, child support, paternity and property distribution cases, as well as matters involving high net worth individuals and complex domestic relations issues.

Lastra’s intricate knowledge of complex domestic-related cases and his ability to anticipate the opposition to develop effective case strategies, has earned him an “AV” rating, the highest rating possible from clients, peers and judges, by Martindale Hubbell for Family Law. In 2010, Lastra received the “Family Law Practitioner of the Year” award by the Montgomery County Bar Association and he was selected by SmartCEO magazine as a member of its “Legal Elite,” recognition earned by way of recommendations from CEOs, business owners and industry and legal experts in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Prior to joining Paley Rothman, Lastra was a Partner with Brodsky, Renehan, Pearlstein, Lastra & Bouquet, Chtd.
Lastra earned his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law (1992) and his B.A. from the University of Miami (1989). While in law school, he was a Certified Legal Intern, prosecuting felony cases for the Law Offices of Janet Reno, Miami-Dade State’s Attorney. He also served as a law clerk to the Hon. Leonard M. Rivikind. Lastra is licensed to practice in Maryland, Florida and the District of Columbia; the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals; and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District and Middle District of Florida.
