MSBA Names Paley Rothman’s Deborah Cohn, Paul Marcotte to Leadership Positions

BETHESDA, MD — Paley Rothman attorneys Deborah Cohn and Paul Marcotte, Jr. have been named to prominent positions by the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA).

Ms. Cohn was named Chair of the MSBA’s Estate and Trust Section Council. In support of the section’s charter to promote the interests of both the public and Estate & Trust Bar members, she will draft legislation, testify before the Maryland General Assembly about legislation affecting Maryland estate and trust law, work to further legal education among judges and attorneys and coordinate with the Registers of Wills to improve estate administration. Ms. Cohn is a senior member of Paley Rothman’s Estate Planning, Estate & Trust Administration and Tax practice groups.

Mr. Marcotte was selected Chair Elect for the MSBA’s Taxation Section, after previously serving as the Secretary/Treasurer for the section. As Chair Elect, he will assist the Chair in presiding over meetings, furthering the purposes of the section such as keeping members of the Maryland Bar informed on current developments in federal and state taxation including continuing education programs, reviewing and providing the section’s views on proposed legislation or administrative rulemaking seeking to improve or reform the tax laws, assist in encouraging students in Maryland law schools to aspire to careers in taxation, and helping to manage the section and its committees. Mr. Marcotte is co-chair of the firm’s Tax practice group and a member of the Estate Planning, Estate & Trust Administration, Nonprofit and Corporate.
