BETHESDA, MD — Paley Rothman principal Patricia Weaver has been named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women for 2012 by The Daily Record in recognition of her professional accomplishments, community leadership and mentoring. Ms. Weaver recently completed her term as president of the Montgomery County Bar Foundation and is a past president of both the Bar Association of Montgomery County and the Montgomery County Women’s Bar Association.

Ms. Weaver chairs the firm’s Appellate Practice group and has handled numerous appeals, authored briefs and argued before the Maryland Court of Appeals, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. In conjunction with her trial practice, she concentrates on complex commercial litigation and estate litigation, and has represented clients in many contract and real estate development disputes, sophisticated estate litigation matters and a number of employment/business competition cases. As part of her ADR practice, she serves as a mediator by court appointment and by private engagement.

A previous recipient of the Daily Record’s Leadership in Law Award for her work in bettering the legal profession in Maryland, Ms. Weaver has also been recognized for her efforts to increase volunteerism by Montgomery County Bar members. She was integral in forming a Community Outreach Committee responsible for planning a Special Olympics event and several local assistance programs and also initiated a soup kitchen project that provides full staff for one night a month.

Ms. Weaver is the latest in a line of Paley Rothman attorneys to receive this prestigious honor. Several of her female colleagues have been honored in this fashion; Linda Schwartz and Hope Eastman were most recently named among Maryland’s Top 100 Women.
