Jeffrey Kolender Participates in “Pre-Retirement” Seminar
Jeffrey Kolender, chair of the firm’s Estate Planning and Estate & Trust Administration practice groups, recently participated in a Montgomery College “Pre-Retirement” seminar for employees within five years of retirement.
He discussed “myths in Estate Planning,” specifically addressing such misconceptions as “I do not need a will because I own all of my property jointly with my spouse,” “I do not need a will because state law provides that all of my separately owned assets will pass to my spouse,” “trusts are only appropriate for the rich” and “finishing my will means my estate plan is finished.” Jeffrey is a member of the Montgomery College Foundation Planned Giving Committee, and in that capacity, he offers financial and estate-related counsel to foundation members, the Director of Gift Planning and potential donors.
