Michelle Chapin presented an update on estate tax changes and planning considerations for international clients to the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants on May 22, 2018.
The presentation covered estate tax updates under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act signed by President Trump in December 2017. She also discussed planning considerations, including determining domicile, gifting between spouses where at least one spouse is not a US citizen, taxation of joint property, and portability.
